![]() ![]() Nemesis was a failed experiment and byproduct of that pursuit, a collection of various copies of the Far Zenith human minds. Some members of the Far Zenith were not satisfied with physical immortality, however, and desired something greater: a form of digital immortality that would allow them to download their minds into any form, organic or mechanical. This allowed the original Far Zenith consortium to survive over a thousand years, indulging themselves in virtual reality. Under the leadership of Gerard Bieri, Far Zenith made massive technological advancements, including extending their lifespans to the point where they were physically immortal. The Odyssey succeeded in finding and settling a suitable planet in the Sirius system, where it successfully ran a colony for several centuries. ![]() Despite this, Tilda van der Meer was still able to convince Sobeck to hand over the copy of APOLLO. This led to Sobeck firmly and definitively dashing any hopes of Far Zenith securing such a copy. Before the deal was finalized, however, an attempt by Far Zenith to steal a copy of GAIA itself was discovered and foiled by Elisabet Sobeck and Travis Tate, who sent a logic bomb in retaliation. This, however, was a lie in order to cover their tracks so no one else might follow them to Sirius.įar Zenith provided prototype ectogenic chambers to Project Zero Dawn in exchange for a copy of APOLLO, allowing Patrick Brochard-Klein to borrow from their technological advances to develop his own ectochamber model for use in ELEUTHIA Cradle facilities. In 2065, Far Zenith's efforts were reported to have ended in failure when the Odyssey apparently exploded after it attempted to leave the Solar System. When knowledge of the Faro Plague became public, Far Zenith accelerated the Odyssey's reconstruction time table. In reality, its true goals were for the world's elites to escape a perceived doomed world. Remains of a Far Zenith Model K Ectogenic chamber in ruinsįar Zenith's public goal was to extend humanity's reach into outer space, and in 2061 they purchased the Odyssey project, which had been abandoned four years earlier due to conflicts among the parties involved in its operation. The organization was very secretive and their spokesperson, Osvald Dalgaard, was the only publicly acknowledged member, while also serving as their mouthpiece. My favorite things about this film are easy to list, so I'll start there.Far Zenith was described as a "futurist consortium" that claimed to comprise seventy-seven of the world's wealthiest persons. This creature gets better and fuller justification for its actions than pretty much any actor in the film-which might have been fine, had Dominion's writers not spent so much time trying, and failing, to stitch its characters' motivations together. This is the kind of film in which a Quetzalcoatlus appears on the horizon, and a character responds by saying its name briskly yet accurately, just before the majestic flying dino emerges in terrifying and detailed fashion. The film's ideal audience agrees with its filmmakers about what matters here: the dinosaurs, not the humans. That goes double for parents who are looking for a movie to watch with amped-up, pre-teen dinosaur aficionados. If you can burrow those expectations deep into the earth, perhaps so far that researchers don't discover them for thousands of years, you may have a good time. How low can you set your expectations for Jurassic World Dominion?
